This compilation goes through examples of which packaging is or is not covered by the SUP Directive. In the case of each package, the SUP product group it represents is shown in brackets.

SUP

  • Takeaway portion lidless plastic tray (food container).
  • Takeaway meal plastic-free disposable container with a lid containing plastic (food container).
  • Paper or cardboard-based food containers, beverage containers, or cups for beverages with a plastic coating or coating.
  • Plastic cup for smoothies (beverage container).

  • Liquid carton packages for barista products intended for the production of coffee drinks. 
  • Cottage cheese, for example. A 200 g plastic cup or e.g. 400 g plastic box.
  • Multipack of pudding or yoghurt cups.
  • Packaging of milk curd, baking curd or other cooking products.
  • Multipack of infant formulae or follow-on formulae.
  • Multipack of yoghurt cups.

SUP

  • Single-dose packaging containing plastic for the spread (food container).
  • Single-dose package of dipping sauce (food container).
  • Single-serving packaging of salad or condiment dressing containing plastic (food container).

NOT SUP

  • In multipacks of portion-sized spread packs.
  • A box containing plastic for the spread, e.g. 400 g.
  • A bottle of salad or condiment dressing containing plastic, e.g. 345 ml.

SUP

  • Sales package made of rigid plastic for one portion of cheese snacks (food container).
  • Packaging containing one ready-made portion of tapas and antipasti variety plastic and a rigid part (food container).

NOT SUP

  • Plastic box for cheese or cold cut slices.
  • Flexible packaging of individually packaged cheese slices.

SUP

  • Plastic wrapper of an ice cream stick containing a wooden stick (food container).
  • Ice cream cone wrapping material made of flexible plastic (flexible package or wrapper).
  • Ice cream cone with plastic and a food container with a rigid part (food container).
  • Ice cream plastic scoop (food container) of up to 300 ml.
  • Up to three litres multipack bag with flexible plastic for ice cream cones (flexible package or wrapper)

NOT SUP

  • Multipack of ice cream sticks.
  • Multipack box for ice cream cones.
  • Ice cream containing plastic, for example. 1 liter brick package, e.g. A 900 ml plastic box or a cup of more than 300 ml.
  • Multi-pack of ice cream cones with a maximum of three litres, plastic and a rigid part.

  • A juice liquid carton can, e.g. 1 liter (beverage container).
  • Liquid carton packaging for straw juice, e.g. 2 dl (beverage container).
  • Liquid carton multipacks of straw juices, e.g. 3 x 2 dl (beverage container).
  • Blueberry soup liquid carton package, 250 g (food container).
  • Bag-in-box of up to three litres (beverage container).
  • Liquid carton packaging of individually packaged beverage shots combined with a cardboard belt (beverage container).
  • Paper or cardboard-based beverage containers or beverage cups with a plastic coating or coating (beverage container).

SUP

  • Energy gel packaging that can be opened with a tear-off plastic strip (flexible package or wrapper).
  • Energy gel packaging that can be opened with a plastic cap (food container).

SUP product (not packaging)

  • Empty plastic or cardboard beverage cups (beverage cup).

  • Plastic shopping bag (light weight plastic carrier bag).
  • A small plastic bag, eg. retail fruit bag (light weight plastic carrier bag).
